BG Platinum Air Fuel System Service in Waverly, Nebraska
Carbon buildup is the #1 hidden problem in modern direct-injection engines. We clean it out in under an hour, no teardown.
BG 44k is the only fuel system cleaner officially approved and recommended by Ford and GM for their engines!
WHAT IS THE BG PLATINUM AIR FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE?
The BG Platinum Air Fuel System Service is a professional cleaning that removes carbon deposits from your engine's intake valves, throttle body, fuel injectors, and combustion chamber. It's a two-part process designed specifically for gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines, the fuel system used in most vehicles built in the last 10 to 15 years. It takes under an hour and requires no engine disassembly.
WHY DO GDI ENGINES GET CARBON BUILDUP?
In older port-injection engines, fuel sprays across the intake valves and keeps them clean. GDI engines inject fuel straight into the combustion chamber, so nothing washes the valves. Oil vapor from the crankcase ventilation system sticks to the backs of the valves and bakes on into hard carbon. Over time, that carbon restricts airflow and chokes performance. Turbocharged GDI engines build it up even faster.
SIGNS YOUR ENGINE NEEDS CARBON CLEANING
If your vehicle has a GDI engine and you're noticing any of these, carbon buildup is a likely cause:
-
Rough or shaky idle
-
Hesitation or stumbling when you accelerate
-
Loss of power, especially at highway speeds
-
Drop in fuel economy
-
Misfires or a check engine light
-
Hard starts, especially when cold

HOW DOES THE SERVICE WORK?
Step 1
Air intake cleaning
With the engine running, our technician introduces BG Platinum Air Intake, Valve & Combustion Chamber Cleaner through the intake. It breaks down carbon on the backs of the intake valves and inside the combustion chamber.
Step 2
Fuel system cleaning
We add BG Platinum 44K to your fuel tank. As you drive through the tank, it cleans the fuel injectors and the rest of the fuel system from the tank to the combustion chamber.
The Result
Restored airflow, smoother idle, better throttle response, and improved fuel economy.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU GET IT DONE?
We recommend a fuel/air induction service every 30,000 miles for GDI engines. If you're already noticing hesitation, rough idle, or lower MPG, it's worth doing sooner.
DOES MY VEHICLE HAVE A GDI ENGINE?
Most vehicles built in the last 10 to 15 years do, including many trucks, SUVs, and cars from Ford, Chevy, GMC, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, and others. Ford EcoBoost engines are GDI. Not sure? Call us with your year, make, and model and we'll look it up in a few minutes.

The problem
On gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines, carbon buildup throws off the air-to-fuel ratio. That leads to poor combustion and drivability issues like misfires, power loss and lower fuel economy.
A cleaner added to the fuel tank alone can't fix it. GDI injectors spray straight into the combustion chamber, so fuel never washes over the intake valves or plenum where those deposits sit.
The solution
Following platform-specific instructions, the BG Platinum® Fuel System Service removes deposits from the backs of the intake valves, the combustion chambers and the injector tips.
- Restores power
- Improves drivability
- Restores fuel economy

Summary
GDI engines deliver strong performance and fuel economy, but they're complex and need extra preventive maintenance to keep those benefits. Regular carbon cleaning helps head off major engine and fuel system problems and extends engine life.
The BG Platinum® Fuel System Service uses specialized tools to feed cleaner directly into the intake plenum through a port that draws a metered vacuum. A fine mist coats every surface, so one service removes heavy deposits from intake valves, combustion chambers and injector tips.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, for GDI engines. Carbon buildup doesn't go away on its own, and left alone it can lead to misfires and eventually require manual valve cleaning (walnut blasting), which costs significantly more and requires removing the intake manifold. Regular induction service helps prevent that.
-
Under an hour. Most customers wait in our lobby or pair it with an oil change.
-
Walnut blasting is a more aggressive cleaning for engines with severe, heavily packed carbon. For routine maintenance and moderate buildup, a chemical induction service is faster, less expensive, and doesn't require engine disassembly. We'll tell you which one your engine actually needs.
-
If carbon buildup is the cause, it often does. Rough idle can also come from ignition, sensor, or vacuum issues, so we'll diagnose it first rather than guess.
-
Store-bought fuel additives only travel with the fuel, and in a GDI engine the fuel never touches the intake valves. They can't reach the carbon that causes most GDI performance problems. That's why this service includes a direct intake cleaning step.
-
This service is for gasoline GDI engines. For diesels, we use BG 245 as part of our diesel service packages.
